Job Title · Software Engineer
Role · Software Engineer
Reports to · Project Manager
Duties/Key Areas of Responsibility Ø Technology assessments, design and development of the productØ Prepare and review functional and design specsØ Closely work with partner teams and other cross functional teams
Essential Job Requirements Ø System Management domain knowledge.Ø Server virtualization( VMWare, MSVS, Hyper-V, Citrix Xen Server, Xen ) domain knowledge is preferred.Ø Demonstrated strong technical expertise.Ø Track record of delivering professional results on schedule.
Experience Required Ø 4+ years in software engineering (analysis, design and object-oriented programming) absolutely essential. Ø Working experience with management protocols such as SNMP, WBEM/WMI.Ø Experience in Java/J2EE, RMI, SOAP, JBoss, EJB, Tomcat, SQL, CVS/SVN, XML, JSP, AJAX, Hibernate. Ø Experience on Database (Oracle/SQLServer).Linux Skills:Ø A very good working knowledge of Shell Programming (at least one of Bourne shell or variants of that, Korne Shell or C-Shell) Ø Must have used many of the POSIX compliant Linux/Unix system calls Ø A working knowledge of writing automation scripts using a combination of Shell Scripts, C Programs and various Linux/Unix utilities Ø Good at Systems Programming using C Ø Must have a working knowledge of Linux-based Build and its automation using: o configure scripts o Make utility o writing MakefilesØ Must have working knowledge of using rpm and/or apt tools, as well as writing packaging scripts for distribution as RPM and/or Debian packages Ø Disks and their Partitioning, and related Tools on Linux/Unix Ø A working knowledge of Linux/Unix Programming environment: o Most of the common Unix/Linux tools/utilities (mount, fsck, gcc, ldd, insmod, modprobe, grep, sed, awk) o A working knowledge of using the hierarchy under /proc, /sys and udevs on Linux o System Bootup and its sequencing on Linux o System Initialization in Linux (init scripts) o Linux/Unix file-system hierarchyØ Have a working knowledge of using and creating Linux Boot CD environmentØ Be able to use perl/python scripts. A good working knowledge would be a plus
Personality Ø Ability to work independentlyØ Ability to work in a teamØ Strong problem solving skillsØ Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills Ø Demonstrated collaboration skills across sites and organizational boundaries
Optional / Desired Requirements Ø An understanding of management products in Proliant and Integrity environment
